Brief Product Information on ASPIPAN-DSR

COMPOSITON:

Each Aspipan-DSR capsule contains a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone 30 mg.

DESCRIPTION:

Aspipan-DSR is a brand for the anti-ulcerant and anti-emetic combination that effectively treats various complications that are associated with acid reflex and ulcers. Pantoprazole is an efficient proton pump inhibitor that belongs to the substituted benzimidazole class. Like other proton pump inhibitors, pantoprazole blocks the HK ATPase enzyme system or the proton pump system present on the gastric parietal cells. Proton pump inhibitors are activated in the acidic environment only. This drug prevents the final step of gastric acid production, i.e., the inward movement of hydrogen ions into the gastric lumen, and eventually reduces the levels of gastric acid and its reflux towards the chest region. Domperidone is a potent anti-emetic agent that addresses nausea and vomiting along with the suppression of acid reflux. On the peripheral levels, it increases the lower esophageal pressures and improves the motility in the upper GI tract, or peristalsis. It acts as an antagonist of D2 and D3, dopamine receptors in their area postrema, where lies the chemoreceptor trigger zone for nausea and vomiting.

INDICATIONS:

• Gastric and Peptic ulcers
• Gastroesophageal reflux diseases
• Dyspepsia
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• Nausea and vomiting

DOSES:

1 capsule in a day early in the morning or on an empty stomach or as indicated by the physician

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Aspipan-DSR is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity towards Pantoprazole and domperidone. This medicine is also contraindicated in patients with hepatic and renal impairment, interstitial nephritis, and congestive heart failure.

Adverse effects of this medicine include:

• Headache
• Dizziness
• Blurred vision
• Diarrhea
• Severe itching in the skin
• Nausea
• Flatulence
• Dryness of mouth
• Rashes and swelling

PRECAUTION:

There are no sufficient and well-controlled studies when it comes to Pantoprazole and Domperidone administration in pregnant women and nursing mothers. Therefore, if you are pregnant or nursing, discuss with your doctor about your condition before taking this medicine.
